Shannon was determined to have a spa day so we set out to find her one. We walked down an alley off the main road and stumbled upon Sari Spa, which was a very nice spot. Some of the other spas we walked into were run-down and didn’t even have air conditioning (Bali is pretty sweltering in April).
I hung out while she read the menu of spa services – a lot of them involved colonic stuff and some programs were an entire week long. She opted for a four hour pampering (no colon cleanse) for a grand total of $50. After she checked in I made my way to the Agung Rai Museum of Art.
There was a couple galleries of artwork and pretty landscaping. On display there was temple musical instruments and they even offered classes too.
I walked next door to the Saraswati Temple which had a pretty lotus pond in front (and a Starbucks).
Once inside, I put on a sarong, which should be worn by men inside temple grounds, and explored a little.
I had a nice big lunch at Mama’s Warung, went for a swim in the pool and read some of my ”The Plantagenets” book while waiting for Shannon to return from her massage.
At night, we made our way to Ubud Palace for a Legong and Barong dance performance. When we went to the Kecak show, we showed up right on time but had to sit near the back. This time, we were there early and got front row seats for this amazing show.
The orchestra of gamelans and other traditional instruments created a haunting background to the vivid performance.
