Taejongdae 태종대 and Lotte Giants Baseball Game

It’s May and short sleeves can finally be worn. We headed to Busan Station to catch a city wide tour bus. This might be a great idea if you come into town and only have a weekend to check out Busan, which is a pretty big city (4 million people and 4 subway lines). Theses hop on/hop off buses are specially designed for tourists and begin and end at the main train station. However,  if you live in Busan, you are better off using local transport

It was a beautiful Saturday and the buses were full. Several pulled up and only allowed on passengers with prior bookings. This link can be used to make a booking. We finally got on a bus and took it down to Taejongdae (태종대) – if you remember, this is where we had a bbq shellfish feast in February. Now we decided to explore the park at the very tip of the island.

After waiting around for a bit, we finally caught a bus back and got off to take the subway home. We only got off the bus once (thus defeating the purpose of the hop on/hop off feature). The 10,000 won ($10) would be better worth it for someone from out of town and the whole day to spend sightseeing.

Warm weather also means the return of baseball. Busan’s home team is the Lotte 롯데 Giants. In Korea, the baseball teams are named after the mega-corporations – like Lotte 롯데 – that dominate the economy (called Chaebol in Korean).

It’s plastic bag time – they hand out bags to everyone to pick up their trash and empties – before doing this everyone wraps it around their head
