Spring

It’s the end or March and temperatures are starting to thaw out a bit. There is an explosion of flowers blooming. The most famous being the cherry blossom 벚꽃. Known as Sakura in Japan (Washington D.C. has thousands of cherry blossom trees thanks to a gift from Japan), they are also found and celebrated in Korea.

Oncheonjang Park – a very popular cherry blossom viewing spot

This year the cherry blossoms came a little early (late March) so we headed to  Oncheonjang 온천장, a stream that empties into the Suyeong river.

The cherry blossom trees go from bare to full bloom to bare again in only a few weeks. After only a few days of full bloom the wind starts to blow the petals off.
