That beach bungalow in the pic above is our home for the next few days on the island of Siquijor (pronounced “see-key-hor”). Our last few stops, Dumaguete, Apo Island and Dauin are all in the province of Negros, whereas the fairly tiny island of Siquijor is it’s own separate province.
From the pier near Dauin, we took the most dodgy ferry yet. This boat was super cramped and was getting rocked by waves. We kept our bags on our laps and crafted our plan in case of capsizing. Ferry accidents are a routine part of life in the Philippines.
We arrived to a very serene beach in front of Coral Cay resort and checked in to our bungalow about 20 feet from the shore.
In one of the pics above, you can see Shannon relaxing on the porch of the bungalow. Siquijor is a very relaxed island and we noticed more staring from the locals than at the other places we’ve been in the Philippines. We relax on the beach and enjoy the sunset with some delicious Tanduay rum and mango juice.
