Busan is so close to the sea, it’s no surprise that seafood is a huge part of the food scene. Jagalchi 자갈치 is a massive seafood market that sells hundreds of types of seafood fresh off the docks. Restaurants right upstairs will take your purchase and cook it up for you too.

Along Gwangali beach there are many places to get huge king crab – the steamers out front are cooking them after you pick them out

This is one of my favorite dishes to eat on my dinner break from work. It’s called nakji 낙지 which means ‘small octopus’. It comes out looking like the pic below, and then you cook it on a burner until it makes a delicious stew.

Korea has traditional markets selling fresh produce and everything else you can imagine in almost any neighborhood. You are also never far from street stalls that sell quick and inexpensive food when you need a bite on the go.

I’ll finish this post with a couple oddball snacks found in convenience stores. Here is PSY, the famous singer, peddling some ramen 라면, which is the snack on the go of choice for many Koreans

Korea has a ton of delicious foods, but some I just can’t acquire a taste for. Beondaegi 번데기 is steamed or boiled silkworm pupae.
