In addition to being a wonderfully serene tropical island, Apo Island also has fantastic scuba diving. The Liberty Lodge (our hotel) has a dive shop attached and a small boat to take you around the island to drop in.
When you go diving farther afield, you pretty much are on the boat the entire day – traveling, resting and eating in between dives. Being so close, we just rode back to the island and chilled out there while waiting to dive again.
The corals were incredibly healthy and developed with fish teeming everywhere.
There was some nudibranchs and some other odd creatures I’ve never seen.
Just like my other post about snorkeling around the island, there were turtles everywhere.
After a 3-tank dive day, we relaxed on the beach for sunset. The town turned the power back on in the middle of the night to sing Christmas hymns as it’s almost Christmas. The next morning we took the boat back to the main island and checked into Pura Vida Resort.
It was Christmas Eve and they had a group of children performing carols and dancing.
On Christmas day, we did some diving with Shannon doing a personal shore dive (just her and an instructor with no boat).
