As I said before, volunteers, interns and students are always coming and leaving the camp in Jaipur and, after over 5 weeks, my time has come to say goodbye as well. I finished up my Hindi lessons and also had a wonderful dinner at Subhadra’s house with her husband.
Subhadra has many businesses – she manages a residence for female college students, teaches Hindi and Indian cooking and writes for the local newspaper’s cooking section. She is also a fantastic cook and like many devout Hindus, she is vegetarian.
I also hung out with Vipul विजय around Jaipur and he helped me immensely in buying a very special gift for Shannon (more on that in a future post). I also went to a bachelor/bachelorette party with a group from camp. This was quite an experience. There were many more people than an American bachelor party – it was basically all the young people (twenties and thirties) of the wedding partying it up.
We drove to the outskirts of Jaipur to this large field that had been setup with a dance floor, DJ and full bar.
With an open bar, people were getting rather tipsy and the dance floor filled up.
On the drive home, we even came across on the the Amber Fort elephants trudging his way home with his mahout on the main road.
With all my goodbyes said, I made my way to Delhi to catch a flight out of India. This experience was beyond fantastic and I cherish all the experiences and people who shared it with me. So long भारत
