So far on her India trip, Shannon has had a good dose of large bustling cities such as Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. We also visited Samode, which is the complete opposite – There is only a Palace, garden and haveli. Udaipur is just in the middle – its large enough to have a lot going on but also small enough to be tranquil and relaxing.
From Jaipur, we hopped on an overnight train complete with sleeper beds in our own cabin. This is a great way to travel as you can relax in your private cabin and arrive in the morning well rested. We arrived at our guesthouse which had a nice rooftop lounge and restaurant.
We set our bags down in the room and set out to explore the very picturesque town which is centered around Pichola Lake.
We made our way to a cable car that takes you to the top of a hill for sweeping views of the town.
The next day we explored around some more and booked a cooking class for the following day.
We made our way to the Udaipur City Palace, which was built in the 1500’s and is now a fantastic museum.
Just outside the palace we found a nice camel photo op and a chance to dress up as Rajput royals.
At night we ate delicious food and chilled out at hookah lounges around town.
On our final day in Udaipur, we took a course at Shashi Cooking Class. This was a really fun half-day experience and we were the only students she had that day.
We made so much delicious food!
We had so much food left over which worked out since we were taking another overnight sleeper train back to Delhi. This made for a delicious dinner in our cabin on the train.
