Our only full day in Bangkok, we booked bus tickets (bookings on Khao San road are unbelievably easy) for the next day and then headed off to Chatuchak weekend market.
This market is a massive collection of stores and stalls selling everything from food, clothes and furniture to animals. We ate lunch and wandered around for a couple hours, buying some gifts and souvenirs for friends and family back home.
We also made our way over to Wat Po just before it closed for the evening. The guards waved us through and told us we didn’t have to pay but we had to hurry up. While a little rushed, it was awesome to view the iconic reclining Buddha with nobody else around.
The feet of Buddha are really neat as they contain engravings of 108 (an auspicious number in Buddhism) symbols of Buddhism.
After Wat Po, we headed to the Arun Residence restaurant just a quick walk away. We flagged down a tuk-tuk not knowing how close it was and he nicely pointed us in the right direction and explained how close it was.
The views across the Chao Phraya river of Arun Temple were wonderful. We just had 1 drink each as it was rather pricey by Thailand standards.
This being our last night in Bangkok, we decided to have a little fun and play some ping pong. Since this is a G-rated blog, this is all I can say about this.
