After hanging out with my friends from the Idex program in Jaipur for a few days, Shannon and I rode out to a town called Samode, which is about twenty-five miles north of Jaipur. My friend, Vijay, and several Finnish girls from the camp joined us for the ride up and a tour of the Samode Palace.
Jaipur is very well connected by bus and rail to other cities but if you want to go to Samode, you must arrange your own transport. Our friend Vijay very nicely drove us all up. We arrived to a beautiful Palace set nicely among manicured gardens. Samode Palace is also a hotel, but I booked us one night in their luxury tents. We arrived and were taken on a grand tour of the Palace.
After the tour, we had some light snacks in their ornate dining room. In was here that a staff member informed us that our luxury tent reservation was not available as they had overbooked. My friend Vipul stepped in and had a long discussion with them. After this they offered Shannon and I a room in the Palace!
The room was so incredible! We relaxed around the pool and had a fantastic dinner before enjoying a bottle of wine in the room.
We only stayed for one night before making our way back to Jaipur so we could catch a train to our next destination.
