Ko Lanta

We bid farewell to Ko Lipe and took a Tigerline ferry north to Ko Lanta, which is one of the bigger islands in Thailand. Ko Lanta is also in the beautiful Andaman Sea and after stopping at a couple small islands along the way, we arrived at the busy pier.

I arranged some diving for the next day and we took a tricycle to the Lanta New Beach Bungalows. Shannon and I have stayed here before and love the relaxed atmosphere with the pretty beach only steps from the pool.

There are many very relaxed beach bars offering all types of mind altering treats

The restaurant serves pretty good food which is nice because this beach is a little isolated from the beaches with more amenities.

Since Lanta is a pretty big island, we rented motorbikes from the front desk for $5 per day and cruised around a little bit

We made our way to the main market area near the pier where all the boats came in and I found a fantastic stand where the woman only made mango sticky rice

Thai mangoes are very delicious and they are sliced up and put on top of rice that has been prepared to be stickier than normal. A salty condensed milk concoction is then drizzled on top for a great treat!
