Diving Day in Bali

Nudibranch

Kuta Beach in Bali, Indonesia

I woke up early to catch a ride to the north side of Bali to do some scuba diving. Bali is a pretty big island and it took about 2.5 hours to make it there by van. I made one huge mistake – I forgot to leave Shannon any money! With 5 hours of driving round trip and 2 tanks of scuba diving, I left her all day with no way to buy anything. Luckily breakfast is included with the room and she had some food.

Kuta - Tulamben

I had a whole row in the van to myself, so I slept a little on the way before arriving at a resort where we would set up for our diving. There is a famous wreck dive here, the Tulamben, and we were to enter the water from the shore.

We geared up and waded into the water. After about 50 feet, we came across this area of garden eels peeking out of the ocean floor.

Also, there were tons of nudibranchs! I talked about these colorful sea slugs when I did some scuba diving in the Philippines.

It was a 2 tank dive day with lunch served in between the dives. Indonesia has some of the best scuba diving in the world, but Bali isn’t usually mentioned as one of the better sites in the vast archipelago. However, I thought this was a fantastic shore dive.
