We left Manila after only 2 nights and took a bus-ferry combo to Puerto Galera on the island of Mindoro.
There it is. The picture of island living in the Philippines. World class scuba diving, stunningly beautiful beaches and the friendliest people (this is a quantified fact – Filipinos have the highest favorable opinions of Americans of all countries).
These are the bangka boats that are seem everywhere in the islands.
We stayed at Sea Jewel Resort which was a 30 second walk to White Beach.

The ultimate island accessory – Tanduay – a delicious Filipino rum. A 1 liter bottle costs about $1 and goes great with the fresh fruit juices found everywhere.
Nighttime was a little odd on the island. Ramshackle bars on the beach blast competing music out onto the sand, drag show singing competitions that are filmed by some low budget film crews and fire dance shows are all on tap on PG.
The next day we walked over the hill (the lookout from the first photo) separating white beach from two other less busy beaches.
There were more dogs than people on these beaches which made for some good relaxation.
Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and
gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had
to tell someone!
